MOTUL is a lubricant company with roots going back to 1853 and a long racing history. In 1971 it brought out 300V, its first fully synthetic oil. The car oils we pour come from its 8100 line, which MOTUL labels 100% synthetic.

MOTUL 8100 X-cess gen2
- 5W-40
Made for powerful, recent cars with larger gasoline and diesel engines. MOTUL lists approvals from BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and Volkswagen for it.
MOTUL 8100 X-clean
- 5W-30
- 0W-30
Made for the latest diesel and gasoline engines. It's a mid-SAPS oil that MOTUL says is safe for catalytic converters and diesel particulate filters, and suited to recent BMW, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche and VW group models.

Which cars each one suits
Eco-lite is the MOTUL for everyday gasoline cars whose manual calls for a thin, fuel-saving grade like 0W-20 or 5W-30. X-cess gen2 5W-40 fits bigger, more powerful engines, including many older European cars. X-clean is for newer European gasoline and diesel cars, especially diesels with a particulate filter.
Porsche, BMW, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Volkswagen, Corvette and Range Rover owners make up a lot of our MOTUL customers. The filter we use
A new metal spin-on oil filter made by IFA Metro Street. On European cars we use IFA Metro Street when it's in stock for your model, and otherwise a MANN, Hengst or MAHLE filter. If your car uses a cartridge-style filter instead of a spin-on, call with your year, make and model for the price.
Price and what's included
A MOTUL oil change is from $159. That price includes tax and the $5 environmental fee, along with 5 quarts of MOTUL, a new spin-on filter, a multi-point check, fluid top-offs and tire pressure. If your engine takes more than 5 quarts, the extra oil is billed separately. The $20 MOTUL coupon takes it to $139.
